The hot list 2017

DESCRIPTION:

A former tobacco warehouse on the Adriatic coast, just beside Trogir's medieval old town, was restored and converted by Amsterdam-based interior designer Saar Zafrir. It is Brown Hotels' first property outside Israel, and at its heart is an immense living room with sea-view windows, mismatched modernist-inspired chairs, a superb library of art, design and photography books, and a full-sized billiard table. The 25 bedrooms are peaceful retreats with Indonesian kempas-wood floors and silvery-blue banana-silk rugs, and the slick bathrooms are lined with grey marble. Down in the pretty garden, there's a big black-and-white tiled pool and sun beds shaded by parasols from where you can order a Cucumber Crush (Hendrick's gin, St Germain, lemon, cucumber and rosemary on ice, topped with Prosecco). Come evening, head to the candlelit Cartina terrace for grilled langoustines under an inky-blue sky. Aimed squarely at urbanites accustomed to a cosmopolitan lifestyle, this is a stylish family-friendly retreat.

FLASH POINT This summer sees the opening of 24 new suites, a spa and beach club.
